Wael Arakji scores another career milestone!

Dubai 15 January 2024 – After his participation at the Men’s Basketball World Cup for the first time, the Lebanese Basketball star, Wael Arakji , sealed 2023 by winning yet another prestigious award after being voted Best Player for the Year 2023 in Asia.

Arakji, who has is created a legacy and a strong fan base for himself despite his young age, led Lebanon to compete in the 2023 world cup in Indonesia. The Lebanese athlete scored an average of 18 points as well as 2.8 rebounds and 6.0 assists at the games, assisting Lebanon to a win against both the Ivory Coast and Iran.

Furthermore, the 29-year-old point guard, has been at the forefront of games for his home town club Al Riyadi swooping for the title of the West Asia Super League where Arakji scored an average of 17.7 points, 3.5 rebounds, 4.7 assists and 2.4 steals per game in the competition.

Winning the title of Best Player for the Year 2023 in Asia, came to Arakji as a result to Fans votes which were divided into three rounds- the quarter finals, semi-finals and the final. The players with the most votes were qualified to the next round until the fans’ votes were casted and counted on the 31st of December.

Following the announcement of the results, Arakji expressed his happiness and pride through an official Instagram post on his page stating: “what a way to end the year! Humbled to have been voted Player of 2023! Thank you, family, friends and fans, for your unconditional support! Dare to live the life you have always dreamed of!”
