Aseer Strengthens Its Position as a Sustainable Tourist Destination

5 May 2025, Dubai, United Arab Emirates – The Aseer Development Authority (ASDA) has taken a significant step in reinforcing its role as a premier sustainable tourism destination. By forging high-impact partnerships and unveiling strategic initiatives, ASDA continues to accelerate Aseer’s transformation into a globally recognized cultural and ecological tourism hub.

Aseer’s latest efforts include the signing of five key Memoranda of Understanding (MoUs) with major industry players—Saudia Airlines, the Global Sustainable Tourism Council (GSTC), Al Matar Group, Seyaha Company, and MyTable. These partnerships mark a decisive move toward enhancing the region’s tourism offerings, expanding investment opportunities, and improving visitor experiences across the aviation, sustainability, hospitality, and technology sectors.

Commenting on this milestone, Eng. Hashim Al Dabbagh, CEO of ASDA, stated:
“In 2024, we welcomed 8 million tourists to Aseer. These new strategic alliances turn our ambitions into concrete progress—driving investment, diversifying our offerings, and reinforcing Aseer’s growing role in Saudi Arabia’s tourism economy.”

Alongside these agreements, ASDA organized a dedicated workshop for travel and tourism professionals, focusing on investment opportunities and destination development strategies that support Aseer’s positioning as a year-round destination for cultural, eco, and experiential tourism.

Hatim Al-Harbi, Chief of Tourism at ASDA, added:
“Aseer combines natural beauty with authentic cultural experiences. Our continued efforts underscore our commitment to delivering sustainable, world-class tourism offerings that meet the expectations of modern travelers.”

These initiatives reflect a shift from awareness-building to delivering measurable outcomes. Backed by a clear vision aligned with Saudi Arabia’s national tourism strategy, Aseer is on track to attract 9.1 million visitors annually and contribute SAR 26 billion to the Kingdom’s tourism GDP by 2030.
